About Allora Animal Sanctuary
A Sanctuary Built On Compassion
Allora Animal Sanctuary began from a deep passion for animal wellbeing and a desire to create a place where animals could live safely and peacefully.
What started as a vision to provide comfort and dignity for senior dogs gradually evolved into a broader mission. After years of searching for the right location, the sanctuary found its home on a beautiful farm property in Oro Medonte that offered the space and opportunity to expand the vision.
Today, Allora provides lifelong care for a variety of animals including horses, donkeys, goats, sheep, bunnies, barn cats, and more. Each resident receives individualized care focused on comfort, stability, and quality of life.
The Meaning Behind the Name
“Allora” is an Italian word that can mean:
A continuation • Moving forward • Carrying on • Buying time
For us, the name represents giving animals time — time to heal, time to feel safe, and time to live fully.
Our Philosophy
Our approach to animal care is rooted in dignity, compassion, and individualized attention.
Every animal has unique needs, and we prioritize:
- Safety and stability
- Proper nutrition and medical care
- Comfortable living environments
- Respectful and kind interactions
Our goal is to ensure that every animal at Allora experiences a life of peace, care, and belonging.
Looking Ahead
As Allora grows, we hope to develop educational opportunities that allow the community to connect with animals in meaningful ways. Future programs may include guided visits, workshops, and structured interactions designed to support learning and wellbeing.
We are especially interested in creating calm, supportive experiences for neurodivergent children and youth, adults and seniors programs while also sharing knowledge about responsible animal care with families and animal lovers.
